Last year I reviewed Image Lab and must confess that I was frustrated by the amount of time that it took to obtain enough understanding of the (PD) Persistence of Vision Ray tracing program to follow the examples in the book. The results looked stunning but I simply had not the time to get to grips with the poor documentation of POV-Ray. It consoles me to discover that this was not a problem for me alone. Ray Tracing Creations is exactly what I could have done with last year, an excellent tutorial guide to using POV-Ray. If you would like to explore the mysteries of rendering, texture and much, much more buy this book. Be warned that you do need a 486DX or a lot of patience. There is a disk with the book which includes the scripts for all the fascinating colour illustrations in the book. They really do work straight off the disk.
