Do you like playing with graphics? Are you one of those who have had many hours of fascination out of POV-RAY? If so this is a book you will want. Its sub-title of 'Creating Virtual Worlds with REND386' gives a good idea about what it is about.

This book actually contains a considerable amount of C/C++ code and to get best benefit from it you will need Borland C++ (the authors mention 3.1 but I think most will find that any recent Borland C++ compiler will do - those with other full C++ compilers shouldn't have much difficulty in making any necessary conversions)
The disk that comes with the book includes the author's product REND386 now divided into a C callable library (VRLIB) and a viewer based on the library called VRVIEW. It also includes a slightly restricted version of the NorthCAD-3D package.

This is another great book from the Waite Group Press in an area that they are rapidly making their speciality. Not only will you enjoy reading the book and working with the provided code but you will also acquire some tools that you could use in developing products of your own. Definitely one for the hobbyist and aspiring shareware author. Some of the more adventurous 'professionals' would enjoy it as well.
