I have deliberately reviewed this book immediately after Conquering C++ Pointers because this is exactly the kind of book that Academic Press should be publishing.

I am not going to spend much time on it because it is the fourth volume in an ongoing series. If you have any serious work to do with graphics (not just pretty pictures scanned in - but real programming) this series should be on your reference shelf.

Nothing I could write would do full justice to the width and depth of the material contained in these volumes and those who already have the earlier volumes will need no encouragement to buy this one. For the others it is worth mentioning that the first three volumes are now available as a single purchase at substantially less than the total of the individual volumes.

These are books for professionals written by those who understand their subject matter.
